Chemical Engineer Position

Elateq is an innovative start-up with a mission to address the world’s rapidly depleting water resources. With a  growing portfolio of technologies, Elateq stands to transform the water industry in the areas of wastewater  treatment, water recovery, PFAS destruction, resource extraction, desalination, and potable water. At Elateq, through  our revolutionary technologies, we are dedicated to providing complete water treatment technologies for a better  tomorrow.  

We are excited by the success and commercial prospects of our core technology and are now ready to expand our  portfolio by further developing our novel technology for advanced electrochemical degradation of PFAS in water! This  development is funded through a two-year NSF Phase II SBIR grant and will result in affordable, scalable destructive  technology that is easily operated and maintained on-site. PI: Dr. Ljiljana Rajic. 

Position Overview: 

We seek a talented Chemical Engineer with a strong background in chemical process optimization, electrochemistry,  and plug-flow reactor designs. In this role, you will design and optimize processes to efficiently degrade “forever  chemicals” in processed water utilizing novel electrochemical cells. You will play a key role in scaling up our  technology and supporting the piloting of the technology and processes on a larger scale. 

This is primarily an onsite job where you will work full-time at our physical workplace but could be working from  home on certain days of the week after the approval from a supervisor.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development and optimization of electrochemical cell construction and operation. Lead the technology piloting and support the techno-economic analysis of the process. Provide quarterly reports on technology development and operational progress. 
  • Ensure strict adherence to environmental and safety regulations in all operations. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the CEO, CSO, and CTO to drive innovation & efficiency. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. or Master’s in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Chemistry, or related field. Minimum five years of experience with chemical processes’ optimization. 
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing plug-flow chemical/electrochemical reactors.  Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
